Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: What is done with torn and old tricolours? Learn the rules regarding the national flag--
India will celebrate its 75th anniversary of independence on August . The country is celebrating the Amit Mahotsav of Independence. The government has launched the Har Ghar Triranga scheme. Under this scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all citizens to display the national flag of India in their homes. The tricolor is the pride of our country. But there are some rules for lifting it. Most people know how to hoist a tricolour, but very few know what to do with the old tricolour flag. Besides, if the national flag is torn in any way for any reason, there are some rules for its disposal.
Let me tell you that as per Section 2.2 of the Indian Flag Code, if the tricolour flag is damaged or discolored or cracked, it should be removed and destroyed completely. This means that it should be burnt completely so that the dignity of the national flag is not injured. The tricolour flag can also be immersed in the holy river. Flying a torn or dirty tricolour flag is an offence, punishable by 3 years imprisonment.
On Independence Day or any other national holiday, children carry paper tricolours to school. There are strict rules in this regard as well. These flags should never be dropped on the ground. This flag should be removed and discarded in view of the dignity of the national flag. Paper tricolor can also be offered in water
Besides, you must have seen that the tricolor flag is presented to a soldier on the day he is martyred. But the question that must arise in the minds of many is what will happen to this tricolor later? Let me inform you that the tricolor flag taken down from the body of the martyr is secretly burnt with reverence or floated in the river.
