The Punjab and Haryana High Court has adopted a strict attitude regarding the parole granted to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.  The High Court has ordered that Ram Rahim should not be given parole without asking the court.  Along with this, the court also asked how many more people have been granted parole in this manner so far.
Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) had filed a petition in the Punjab-Haryana High Court opposing the grant of parole to Ram Rahim, hearing which the High Court has told the Haryana government that from now on Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Ram Rahim will not be allowed to be given parole.  Before granting parole, permission should be taken from the High Court.  Also, the list of how many more such people have been given parole like Ram Rahim, should also be submitted to the court.
Recently Ram Rahim was given parole for 50 days.  Earlier, he was released from jail on 21 days parole in November 2023.  Gurmeet Ram Rahim is currently serving a 20-year jail sentence in Rohtak's Sunaria Jail.
Before completing the parole sentence, the convict is released from jail for a few days.  For which good behavior is also a condition.  For this, the prisoner has to give necessary reasons for getting out of jail and the government of the concerned state takes the final decision on granting him parole.
