CBSE Grade System & What is CGPA: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided not to release percentage i.e. aggregate marks in 10th and 12th board results by abolishing the traditional grading system. Apart from this, division (first, second or third division) or distinction will also not be issued in the result. Now only CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) i.e. grade points will be given in CBSE result.
CBSE Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj says that to avoid unhealthy competition, the board has decided to introduce grading point system instead of aggregate marks in 10th-12th board results. Now, instead of calculating the result by adding the marks of all the subjects, the percentage will be calculated by focusing on the performance of the students in each subject, from which the CGPA will be calculated. This will improve the performance of children and reduce the pressure of results. Earlier, to reduce the result pressure, the board had not released the merit list of CBSE 10th and 12th results. Apart from this, toppers were also not announced.
Your CGPA will be calculated by dividing the total of subject wise grade points given in CBSE 10th-12th board result by 5 (best five subjects).
CBSE said that if an employer needs the percentage of marks of students for higher education institute or job, then they can calculate the percentage of CGPA themselves. To calculate CGPA, they will have to use the grade points of top 5 subjects.
