S Mahendra Dev appointed new chief of EAC-PM

Economist S Mahendra Dev has been appointed as the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM). Dev, who was an independent director on the board of Axis Bank, resigned from the position upon his appointment as EAC-PM Chairman. Currently, Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Suman Bery heads the EAC-PM.

"I wish to inform that I have been appointed as Chairman of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. Since this is a full-time position, I hereby tender my resignation from the Board of Directors of Axis Bank with effect from the close of business hours on 05/06/2025,” Dev wrote in a letter addressed to the Axis Bank board.
