Government in action against child marriage in Assam, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with DGP

Assam's Himanta Biswa Sarma government appears to be in action mode to curb child marriage.  Following CM Himanta's statement, the government has launched a massive crackdown on child marriage.  During this period, the culprits will be arrested and a large scale awareness campaign will be conducted.
That is why police have registered 4,004 cases of child marriage since last week.  Those who marry girls under 14 will be booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Poxo) Act and those who marry girls aged 14-18 will be booked under the Prevention of Child Marriage Act,  Case will be registered.
Such people will be arrested and the marriage will be declared illegal.  If the boy is under 14 years of age, he will be sent to a correctional facility as minors cannot be produced in court.
 CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that the Assam government is firm in its resolve to eradicate child marriage in the state.  Assam Police has so far registered 4,004 cases (of child marriage) across the state and more police action is expected in the coming days.  The cases will be prosecuted from February  3 I request everyone's cooperation.
