Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao was awarded the prestigious Grand Prize for his contribution to world peace at an international Buddhist conference held in Hyderabad.
Around 150 delegates and monks from 22 countries attended the event. Accepting the honor, the minister highlighted Telangana's rich Buddhist heritage, including historical sites such as Phanigiri, Nelakondapalli, and Nagarjuna Sagar, which are closely associated with the great philosopher Acharya Nagarjuna.
He announced that Buddhavanam, a major project spread over 274 acres in the state, will be developed into a global world peace center. A digital experience center and a global Buddhist center are also planned to attract visitors and engage the younger generation.
