4 districts will disappear from the map of the state.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on the last day of the year.
The Assam government has decided to abolish four districts of the state for various reasons.
The CM made the announcement after the Cabinet meeting in Delhi.
Four districts declared districts by the state government will be annexed to their former districts.
Bishwanath district will be re-attached to Sonitpur district.
Similarly, Hojai district will be attached to Nagaon district.
The government has announced the decision to re-attach Bajali district to Barpeta.
Similarly, Tamulpur district has been re-attached to Baksa district.
