In Assam, the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government has recently passed the Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill.  However, since the passage of the bill, the Christian community believes the government is targeting it.  Many organizations are also protesting against the government.
The Assam Christian Forum says there is no such thing as magical healing among Christians.  Prayer is the cure, as in other religions.  If a sick person comes to us, we pray for him collectively.  This is not magic, but it is done all over the world.  Many religions, not just Christianity, teach healing through prayer.  It is also called faith healing.  It consists of individual or group prayers for the cure of an illness.
Under the Healing Practices Bill, unscientific healing practices designed to exploit innocent and naive people will be criminalized.  This bill talks about promoting treatment based on science.  Advertisements claiming religious treatment will also be banned.  Besides, advertisements claiming to cure diseases through herbal medicine or worship will also be illegal in Assam.
