Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief S Somnath was battling cancer at the time of the launch of India's Sun Mission Aditya L-1.
Somnath confirmed this in an interview, saying that the scanning had revealed cancer. There were also some health problems during the launch of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. However, nothing was clear until then. He said he was diagnosed with the disease on the day of the Aditya Mission. This upset both him and his family.
Even all his fellow scientists were shocked by the news. But he held his own in this challenging environment. Family and ISRO scientists handled. After the launch, he underwent an abdominal scan. Then it was discovered. But he went to Chennai for further tests and treatment. It turned out that he had the disease genetically. He had stomach cancer.
Within days, the cancer was confirmed. Somnath then underwent surgery. Then he continued his chemotherapy. Somnath said the whole family was in shock. But now there is no such thing. Treatment was given and he recovered. Medications are currently underway. But his family and friends were very supportive.
