International Desk:
India extends support to Russia at UNSC: India may disagree with Russia's stand on war with Ukraine, but like a true friend, it stands by its side in crisis.  Its hallmark reappeared at the meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Friday when India abstained from voting on a resolution condemning Russia.  Although Russia used the veto to stop this proposal from being passed, but with this the friendship of India-Russia once again became known to the world.

 India absent from censure motion:

After the announcement of the merger of 4 states of Ukraine by Russia, America and Albania jointly presented a censure motion against Russia in the UNSC.  The resolution condemned Russia's "illegal referendum" and its occupation of Ukrainian territories.  The resolution demanded that Russia immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine.  15 countries of the council were to vote on this proposal, but 4 countries including India were absent from the proposal.  At the same time 10 countries voted in its favor.
Russia vetoed the resolution using the privilege, which it could not pass.  Along with this, it also became clear that even though India is increasing its closeness with Western countries to deal with China, but it is not ready to leave its old friend Russia in the balance in the event of a crisis.  Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Thursday that the occupation of a country or its parts by threat or use of force violates the UN Charter and the principles of international law.  It should be stopped by all means.
