National Desk:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today named 21 large islands of Andaman and Nicobar on the occasion of the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.  The islands will be known as the Paramveer Chakra winners.  The PM participated in the program through video conferencing.  Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah has arrived in Port Blair to attend the 126th birth anniversary celebrations.
PM Modi addressed the nation after inaugurating it online.  These 21 islands will now be known as Param Vir Chakra winners, he said.  This day will be remembered by generations to come as an important chapter in the immortal era of independence.  These islands will be a lasting inspiration for our future generations.  I congratulate everyone for this.
"This land of Andaman is the land where the free tricolor was hoisted for the first time," he said.  The voices of that unprecedented passion can still be heard from the cells of cellular prisons.  After independence, an attempt was made to forget Netaji.  These monuments are an inspiration to future generations.  In fact, January 23 is celebrated as 'Parakram Diwas' to mark Netaji's birth anniversary.
