Dalai Lama Awarded First Gandhi Mandela Peace Prize: Highest Spiritual Leader of Tibet, 14th Dalai Lama  Foundation Peace Prize) was given.  This is the first Peace Prize given by the Gandhi-Mandela Foundation.
Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar conferred the Gandhi-Mandela Award on the Dalai Lama at Tsugla Khang Temple in McLeod Ganj, Kangra district.  .
Dalai Lama expressed his gratitude to the Foundation on this occasion.  Tibet's spiritual leader the Dalai Lama said he stresses kindness, unity and non-violence and that any problem can be solved not through war, but through dialogue and peace.  He said that compassion and kindness give strength to a human being.  The Tibetan religious leader also said that modern education strengthens the mind, but if a person thinks with a calm mind with compassion, then the decision is correct.  Peace of mind is very important.
