Captain Supreetha CT First Woman Officer from AAD Deployed at Siachen

Mysore-based Captain Supreeta Siti has made history by becoming the second Indian Army woman officer to be operationally deployed in Siachen and the first woman officer of the Army Air Defense Corps.The Siachen Glacier, also known as the highest battlefield in the world, is located in the eastern Karakoram Mountains in the Himalayas.  India launched Operation Meghdoot in 1984 to capture the Siachen Glacier in Kashmir from Pakistan , successfully gaining control over the strategically important glacier. 
 It is the second longest glacier in the non-polar regions of the world and lies south of the drainage divide separating the Eurasian plate from the Indian subcontinent.  The Nubra River originates from the Siachen Glacier.
