Environment Index: India's rank 176th out of 180 countries

According to the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) 2024, India ranks 176th out of 180 countries with 27.6 points.  While in the climate change index, India ranks 133rd with 35 points.  In terms of air quality, India is ranked fifth in South Asia with 6.8 points.  The index is released by the Center for Environmental Law and Policy, Yale University, USA.  The EPI score has shown the efforts that countries have made to address environmental challenges and how they have performed.  Comparisons have also been made between countries in terms of which country performed very well.  It evaluates countries based on their adherence to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
