Dr. Suryakant Hazarika is the new President of the Assam Sahitya Sabha

Assam Sahitya Sabha has elected a prominent writer, educator, poet and filmmaker as its new president
 Padmashri Dr. Suryakant Hazarika.
 Dr. Hazarika has elected as the new president of the Sahitya Sabha in the counting of votes held on Saturday.
 He defeated writer Yeshe Darje Thangsi by 80 votes.Girish Handiq has elected as the new Vice-President of the Sahitya Sabha.
  Upendrajit Sharma  elected as the General Secretary.
