The Indian Army has issued a tender to buy 62,500 Bulletproof Jackets for the security of the soldiers posted on the border.  The Defense Ministry has issued two separate tenders for these jackets under Make in India, for 47,627 jackets under normal process and 15,000 jackets under emergency procurement procedures, which will be completed in the next three years.  to be finalized in four months.
Indian Army officials told ANI that the procurement of 47,627 jackets will be done in phases and is expected to be completed in the next 18-24 months.  The specifications listed by the Army state that the bulletproof jacket will be able to protect a soldier from 7.62 mm armour-piercing rifle ammunition as well as steel core bullets fired from a distance of 10 metres.
The Bulletproof Jackets being procured through these two tenders will be of Level 4, which are considered effective against steel core bullets and were first used by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.  Terrorists) will be given to soldiers deployed in operations.  The Indian Army will ensure that the jackets are made in India and the material is not taken from any adversary.
