Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has appointed Anita Anand to the powerful post of foreign minister in his new Cabinet. He has also appointed Maninder Sidhu as international trade minister and two others of Indian origin as secretaries of state, equivalent to ministers of state. One of Anand's missions will be to restore the almost broken ties with India, Carney indicated, while handling the fragile ties with President Donald Trump's US.
Announcing the new Cabinet of 28 ministers, Carney directed them to "bring fresh ideas, clear focus and decisive action to their work".
