National Desk:
After 70 years in India, a new screw has been caught in the exercise of settling cheetahs again. South Africa has put a new condition in front of India before giving the cheetah. He says that leopards should be removed from Kuno National Park first, after which a delegation will come here for investigation. Only after this MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) will be done for shifting of cheetahs. This disclosure was made by Prof. of the University of Pretoria, Africa, who is monitoring the 8 cheetahs brought to India in Namibia. Adrian Trodiff has done it.
In fact, three leopards have entered the cheetah enclosure in Kuno National Park located in Sheopur district. The Forest Department is trying for the last 25 days to remove them, but the location of the leopards is not available. Along with keeping the cage here, the team has tied up the goat and the chicken in the enclosure, but did not get success. Forest officials say that a lot of effort is being made to remove the leopards. Due to the rain, the grass in the enclosure has become big. Also, the work is being affected by the rain.
This matter was raised in the meeting of the time limit held on 16th August in the state ministry of Madhya Pradesh. In this, PCCF Wildlife has been asked to find these leopards by installing cameras. Tranquilize and remove them. A team of two elephants has also been called from Satpura Tiger Reserve to tranquilize the leopards. The operation has started again from 18 August.
Namibia has done MoU to give cheetah to India, but South Africa has not done MoU yet. Africa has put a condition that it will send cheetah to Palpur Kuno only when the leopards are removed from there. The news was also coming that three cheetahs are of captive breed. These cheetahs cannot hunt in the forests of Kuno, because they do not have the ability to hunt, but Prof. Adrian Trodiff denies this.
They say that due to the delay in the MoU between South Africa and India, the shifting of cheetahs is getting delayed. He told that the African government has decided that a delegation will be sent to India, which will see whether the Kuno is suitable for cheetahs to settle or not .
