President's farewell ceremony: "Opposition parties must rise above caste and family politics"-Kovind

 President Ram Nath Kovind's farewell ceremony was held at the Central Hall of Parliament House.  His term ended at midnight on July 24th.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and MPs from both the Houses were also present on the occasion.  President Kovind was welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla upon his arrival at the Central Hall.
 Speaking at the farewell ceremony, President Ram Nath Kovind said: “Today I say goodbye to all of you, my heart is weak, but I am satisfied that I have performed my duties to the best of my ability.  I am always grateful to the people of the country for the opportunity to serve the country.  Today, on the path of development of the country, the opposition parties must also rise above caste and family politics.
 "If you don't agree with a policy of the government, you have the right to protest under the Constitution," he said.  Mahatma Gandhi showed the way of non-violence to the people of the country to protest.  We need to remember his thoughts and teachings.
