Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated during this time.  Mizoram government has banned the import of pigs and pig meat by issuing an official notice.  A statement issued on Saturday said that a complete ban has been imposed on the import of live pigs and fresh pig meat from other states and other countries till further notice.
The report further states that compulsory disinfection and strict hygiene measures in pig rearing areas and segregation of pig flu infected pigs will be provided by the Department of Veterinary and Veterinary Medicine.  The department will dispose of pig carcasses in accordance with the National Action Plan for the Control and Eradication of African Swine Fever, the report said.
The government has also issued a helpline number to provide immediate information on the sudden death of pigs.  The helplines provided by the Government of Mizoram are: 0389-2336441, 9436142908, 9436151203 and 8794206212.
Mizoram lifted the ban on imports of pigs and pig meat products on February 1 this year, 18 months after the ban was imposed in August 2020.  Since December last year, there has been no outbreak of African measles in the state.
