India's Jay Shah took over as ICC chairman last month. After his departure, the post of secretary in BCCI became vacant. Then Devjit Saikia became the interim secretary in BCCI. At the same time, after the elections in Maharashtra, the National Democratic Alliance won and formed the government. Then Ashish Shelar of Bharatiya Janata Party also became an MLA and he became a minister in the Maharashtra government. Shelar had the responsibility of treasurer in BCCI. In such a situation, two posts including BCCI secretary and treasurer became vacant. But now Devjit Saikia and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will be elected unopposed as BCCI secretary and treasurer respectively in the BCCI Special General Meeting (SGM) on January 12 as these are the only two candidates in the final list of those contesting the election.
