Major Radhika Sen of the Indian Army has been honored by the United Nations. She has been awarded the UN Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award . The award is given to those who promote gender equality and women's empowerment in the United Nations Peace Mission.
Major Radhika Sen was deployed in MONUSCO (Congo) from March 2023 to April2024. She was the Team Commander of the Indian Rapid Deployment Battalion. She led a team of 20 female soldiers and 10 male soldiers. Her job was mainly to interact with people, solve the problems of the displaced and raise the voices of women and children in the conflict zones.
