In the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in 2017, India once again talked about the issue of human rights and Hindu nationalism.  Blinken said that America has been continuously speaking to India on these issues.  Blinken also said that the achievements that India has achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are an extraordinary success story.
At the World Economic Forum event, concern was raised on the issue of 'rapidly growing Hindu nationalism', in response to which Blinken said, 'India and America have been talking on this issue continuously and regularly at the diplomatic level.  Besides, the issue of democracy and human rights is also included in our conversations.
Blinken further said, 'When the President (Joe Biden) took office, he tried his best to ensure that the fundamental concerns of human rights and democracy were kept at the fore in America's foreign policy.  We have been raising these concerns with different countries in different ways.  With some countries such talks are more vocal.  At the same time, considering the nature of our relations with some countries, talks are held openly which yield positive results.  This is the situation with India.'
