Geetika Kaul of the Snow Leopard Brigade of the Indian Army has created history by becoming the first woman medical officer to be deployed in Siachen, the world's highest battlefield. This significant achievement comes after Geetika successfully completed the rigorous induction training at the Siachen Battle School.
Sharing photographs of Captain Geetika, the Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army said that her remarkable dedication, competence and spirit to break barriers and achieve excellence in the service of the nation is an example to inspire others.
Induction training is considered a tough test of physical and mental stamina. It covers various aspects such as high altitude adaptation, survival techniques and special medical procedures important for operating in harsh conditions.
Siachen, located in the northern part of the Himalayas, is known not only for its strategic importance but also for its adverse climate and challenging terrain. The deployment of Captain Geetika Kaul as the first woman medical officer in this extreme battlefield is an important step towards gender inclusion within the Indian Army.
