International Desk:
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will visit Japan on a three-day visit today.  Both will be in Japan from 7 to 10 September.  Here he will hold talks with Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada and Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.  The Ministry of External Affairs said that during this time both sides will explore new ways to strengthen bilateral partnership.
During this, both the countries can also discuss the developments happening in the Indo-Pacific region.  Indeed, China's aggression in the Indian Pacific is increasing.  Recently, China conducted an unprecedented provocative military exercise near Taiwan.  In such a situation, both the countries can also consider ways to teach a lesson to China.
India initiated 2+2 dialogue with Japan in 2019.  Currently, India conducts two plus two dialogues with a select few countries, which include the US, Japan, Australia and Russia.
Earlier in April 2022, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar went on a 5-day US visit for 2+2 talks.  The two ministers met separately with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.  During this, many issues with defense cooperation were discussed.
