The population of Indian Skimmer birds, which are endangered in South Asian countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, and Myanmar, is increasing in Chambal Sanctuary. In May alone, 350 chicks were born at the sanctuary. Ranger of Chambal Sanctuary RK Singh Rathore said that the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, is working on a project to conserve Indian Skimmer birds in a 175-kilometer area from Reha (Bah, Agra) to Pachnada (Etawah). This organization conducted a census of Indian Skimmer birds in Chambal in 2021. It was found that there are about 500 adult Indian Skimmer birds in the UP range of Chambal. The number is increasing. In May this year, 350 chicks of Indian Skimmer were born at Chambal Sanctuary. Ranger RK Singh Rathore said that the global population of Indian Skimmer is only around 3000.
