EU President von der Leyen announced at the World Economic Forum that the EU is close to finalizing a historic agreement with India. In her address on Tuesday, she sought to send a clear message to the US that Europe is now ready to partner with new partners, undeterred by tariffs.

Leyen stated, "We have reached agreements with many countries" and will visit India next week. She added, "There is still work to be done. We are on the verge of a historic trade agreement. Some call it the mother of all agreements. An agreement that will create a market for 2 billion people, representing nearly a quarter of global GDP."

According to the EU President, a potential trade agreement will strengthen Europe. Europe is embracing economic powerhouses from Latin America to the Asia Pacific, and the world is reaching out to us. Von der Leyen is scheduled to visit India next week and will be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade on January 26th.
