China has built the world's longest expressway tunnel

China has once again set a new technological milestone. The world's longest expressway tunnel has opened in China's Xinjiang region.
The tunnel is reportedly 22.13 kilometers long. Since its construction, the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel has reduced the 4-hour mountain crossing from just 20 minutes.
According to reports, construction of this tunnel began in 2020. This tunnel is part of the 324-kilometer-long Urumqi-Yuli Expressway. The expressway has reduced the travel time between Urumqi and Korla from 7 hours to 3 hours.
It is worth noting that the world's longest expressway tunnel was previously located in China, measuring 18.04 kilometers long. The expressway and tunnel project cost approximately ₹60,000 crore.
