The Bar Council of India has granted permission to establish two new government law colleges
—Government Law College, Rangia (Kamrup) and Government Law College, Chowkighat, Jamugurihat (Sonitpur). The approval, granted as a special exception to the three-year moratorium on new legal institutions, is being seen as a significant step towards strengthening public legal education and widening access to quality legal studies across the state.
