Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the revised National Manuscript Mission (NMM) under the new name 'Gyan Bharatam Mission' on June 9, 2025, aimed at preserving India's vast manuscript heritage. With a significant budget hike from ₹3.5 crore to ₹60 crore, the initiative will survey, document, digitise and preserve over one crore manuscripts lying in academic institutions, libraries, museums and private collections.The revival and re-launch of the National Manuscript Mission, announced in the Union Budget 2025, is scheduled for June 9. The increase in budgetary allocation and efforts to make the mission autonomous is a major step towards protecting India's ancient intellectual treasure.
