Defence Ministry declares 2025 as 'Year of Reforms'

India on Wednesday (January 1, 2025) declared 2025 as the year of defence reforms and said it would aim to introduce integrated theatre commands to enhance synergy among the three services and transform the Army into a technologically advanced combat-ready force.
The broad objective of the reforms planned by the Defence Ministry will be to simplify and make defence acquisition processes time-sensitive, ensure deeper collaboration among key stakeholders, remove bottlenecks, eliminate inefficiencies and optimally utilise resources.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said these reforms will lay the foundation for "unprecedented" progress in defence preparedness and will enhance India's security and security amid the challenges of the 21st century.
