The President of Nepal conferred the rank emblem on the new Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel

Nepal President Ram Chandra Poudel on Monday conferred the insignia of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on Lt Gen Ashok Raj Sigdel at a special ceremony held at his office Sheetal Niwas in Kathmandu.
 Sigdel is the 45th COAS of the Nepal Army and has been appointed in accordance with sub-section (1) of section 8 of the 2063 Military Act.  He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by President Poudel, who serves as the Supreme Commander of the Nepal Army.
 Sigdel takes over from General Prabhu Ram Sharma, who has retired after completing 42 years of military service and served as commander-in-chief for three years.  Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Biswambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal were among the dignitaries who attended the function.
