Former Election Commissioner Arun Goyal has been appointed as India's next ambassador to Croatia.  The Foreign Ministry made the announcement on Saturday.  Goel is a retired bureaucrat.  Arun Goyal has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Croatia, the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.  He is expected to take over soon.  Arun Goyal had created a sensation in March by resigning just before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls were announced.  His term expired on December 5,2025.  He was to become the Chief Election Commissioner after Rajiv Kumar retired in February next year.  But he had shocked everyone with his sudden decision.
