Indian documentary 'The Golden Thread' was awarded the Best Documentary in the International category with the Golden Konch Award at the closing ceremony of the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival. Actress Poonam Dhillon presented the award to director Nishita Jain at a function held in Mumbai. Festival director Prithul Kumar said the festival received the highest number of delegates and film registrations. He thanked all the film community, jury, Government of India and Government of Maharashtra for their support. In the special category of 'India in the Nectar Period', director Edmund Ranson was awarded the Best Short Film award for 'Life in Loom'. Shrimoi Singh won the Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari Award for Best Debut Director for his film 'And, Towards Happy Allies'. In the national competition category, '6-A Akash Ganga' won the Silver Conch Award for Best Documentary In the international competition category, Poland's 'Jima' won the Silver Conch for Best Animation and Estonia's 'Sour Milk' for Best Short Story Silver Conch won.
