The Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) has been awarded the 2024 Blue Planet Prize for its efforts in biodiversity, ecosystem services and facilitating better science-informed policy and action. The Blue Planet Prize was also awarded to Professor Robert Costanza for his foundational contributions to the field of ecological economics, a new field of study that recognizes that the economy is embedded in society and a finite biosphere.
