Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Nalanda University in Bihar today.  Here, he inaugurated the new campus of this historic university.  PM Modi also visited the 1,600-year-old ruins of the ancient Nalanda University.  Patna Circle Head Gautami Bhattacharya became his guide.  PM Modi was accompanied by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.  In fact, the ancient Nalanda University has been an indelible document of the rich history of India, which reflected the glorious past of ancient India.  However, it was looted, massacred and burnt by the invaders of the Khilji dynasty.
After a long wait of 800 years, there were exercises to restore it to its original form and governments worked on it.  Since 2007, its construction was outlined following the initiative of then President APJ Abdul Kalam and today PM Modi inaugurated the new complex on 19th June.  Learn about the rich past of Nalanda, the story of its decline and the characteristics of its present appearance.
