Cultural significance of Uttarakhand’s Joshimath and Kosiyakutoli, now to be renamed

The Government of India has approved the proposal to change the names of two tehsils submitted by the Government of Uttarakhand.  It changes the names of Joshimath to Jyotirmath and Koshyakutoli to Kanchi Dham.  Recently, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami had sent a proposal to the Government of India with the change of both the names.

   For some years, locals have been demanding the renaming of Joshimath.  But this could not be implemented.  Chief Minister Dhami had decided to name Joshimath tehsil as Jyotirmath in respect of public sentiments.  There is great excitement among the devotees of Baba Neem Karauli as the name of Koshyakutoli Tehsil has become Kanchidham.
