The Union Home Ministry has approved the conduct of the Constable (General Duty) examination in 13 regional languages besides Hindi and English. The decision was taken on the initiative of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to increase participation of local youth in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and promote regional languages. The CAPF will also prepare question papers in 13 regional languages. The government has said that the Constable (General Duty) examination will be conducted in both Hindi and English as well as 13 regional languages. These include Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Oriya, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri and Konkani. Candidates will now have the option of taking the examination in these languages as well.
