Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday presented AIIMS to Assam. He inaugurated the first medical institute in the North East . He was accompanied by state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The PM's visit to Assam comes at a time when the state is celebrating its traditional Bihu festival. The PM will also observe the traditional dance this evening. The foundation stone of AIIMS Guwahati was laid by the PM in. It has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1,120 crore.
Modi Said , “I want to inform the people of Assam that today we have prepared 1.10 crore Ayushman Bharat cards. In the next month and a half, we will reach 33 million people. Every citizen will be able to avail health facilities through this card". The three medical colleges that Assam has are located in Nalbari, Nagaon and Kokrajhar.
