President Draupadi Murmu today made her maiden flight in a Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet from Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam. Draupadi Murmu has become the fourth President to fly a fighter jet. She was preceded by former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Pratibha Patil and Ram Nath Covind have also flown in fighter jets. However, Draupadi Murmu's flight is different from that of other presidents.
The President of the country is the supreme commander of the three armies. This is why the President is briefed on the strength, weapons and policies of the Army. President Draupadi Murmu has flown in a Sukhoi fighter jet. However, her flight was not the first time that former President Dr. APJ is different from the flight of Abdul Kalam, Pratibha Patil and Ram Nath Covind. The fighter jets of these presidents were based in Pune, while President Murmu flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet from Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam, near the Indo-China border. Air Force Group Captain Naveen Kumar Tiwari flew her in a Sukhoi-30 MKI.
After the 25-minute flight, the President described her experience as "nice." Draupadi Murmu is on a three-day visit to Assam. She arrived in Tezpur from Guwahati. She was welcomed at the airport by Air Marshal SP Dharkar, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. After landing in Tezpur, Murmu was given a guard of honor by Indian Air Force personnel. She then boarded the plane wearing a flying suit and waved to the journalists. The President also posed for pictures with her pilot and other officials in front of the plane.
