The central government and the Supreme Court have been at odds over the collegium system for the appointment of judges for the past few months.  Amid the collegium controversy, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has shared a statement by former Delhi High Court Justice RS Sodhi.  "That is the most sensible view," Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said, referring to the former judge's comments.
Retired Delhi High Court judge RS Sodhi expressed his views on the appointment of judges in an interview with Lowstreet Bharat YouTube channel.  He opposed the collegium system in the appointment of judges.  Former Justice RS Sodhi said, "They will appoint the judges themselves, the government will have no role in it. The Supreme Court has hijacked the Constitution in this way."
"When our Constitution was framed, it had a system. There was a whole chapter on how judges are appointed? People who say this system is unconstitutional can talk about amending the Constitution. This amendment," the former Justice said  So Parliament will do it, but the Supreme Court has hijacked the Constitution itself. They said we will appoint ourselves and the government will have no hand in it."
