After hearing the petitions filed against demonetisation, the Supreme Court has given its verdict.  In its decision, the court has upheld Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision of demonetisation in 2016.  With this, 58 petitions against demonetisation have been dismissed.  In the bench of 5 judges, 4 gave a decision in favor of demonetisation by majority.  At the same time, the opinion of Justice Bibi Nagaratna was different.  Let us know the 5 most important things about the decision of the Supreme Court.
1.The Court observed that the word 'any' as mentioned in Section 26 of the RBI Act cannot be given a restrictive meaning (the Court said this in the context of the petitioners who say that all series of a denomination cannot be demonetised  because Section 26 of the RBI Act mentions "any" and not "all".
2. The court wrote in an important note that the decision-making process cannot be faulted merely because the proposal was brought by the Centre.
3. The central government has the right to take this decision after discussing with RBI.  The judges said that discussions were held between the Center and the RBI for 6 months, so the decision making process cannot be falsified.
4. The Supreme Court said that there was no deficiency in the process adopted while taking the decision, so there is no need to set aside the decision.
5. On the question that people were not given time for this, the court said, "People were given 52 days to exchange the notes.  We do not think that it is wrong from anywhere."
