Indian Boxing in Year 2022: The year 2022 is now at its last stage.  This year India achieved many big milestones in sports.  Flags were hoisted in boxing as well, due to which Indian players also got historic success this year.  This year the country got a new star in the form of Nikhat Zareen.  At the same time, veteran boxer and multiple-time world champion MC Mary Kom was disappointed in the boxing ring.
India got good success in the boxing ring this year.  She also got to host the Women's World Championship to be held next year.  Meanwhile, there was a cloud of apprehension over the presence of this sport in the Olympics at the global level.  After spending many years in the shadow of Mary Kom, when Nikhat got a chance, she showed her stamina.  Nikhat showed her mettle in the same flyweight category, in which six-time world champion Mary Kom was dominating.
Nikhat scored a hat-trick of gold medals in the year 2022.  She became the first Indian player to win a second gold medal at the prestigious Strandja Memorial tournament.  After this, following in the footsteps of Mary Kom, she won the title in the World Championship.  This was the first title of an Indian in the last four years.  The 26-year-old boxer entered the Commonwealth Games as a title contender and did not disappoint by winning the gold medal in the 50kg category.  While Nikhat emerged as the queen of the ring, this year was not good for veteran Mary Kom.  She had decided to skip the World Championships and the postponed Asian Games to focus on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
