National Desk:
At the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of whole grains and sports for better health and asked the MPs to work towards encouraging them.  After the meeting, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the Prime Minister told the BJP MPs that popularizing millets grown mostly by small farmers of the country is equal to serving the country.
The Prime Minister said that the United Nations has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets at the request of his government as he called for making millets a popular choice of food.
Amidst the possibility of thousands of foreign delegates attending the G-20 meetings chaired by India in large numbers, PM Modi said that millets can be made a part of the food and dishes served to them.  He said that coarse grains can also be used in Anganwadis, schools, homes and government meetings.
