National Desk:
For admission in IIT and NIT system, the compulsion of 75 percent marks in 12th has been implemented again. Due to this, the general category repeater students who did not score 75% marks in 12th in 2021 and 2022 are out of the race for admission to IITs and NITs.
These students will not get admission in higher engineering institutes even after scoring better in JEE Main and Advanced. Due to Covid, the compulsion of 75 percent marks was removed for admission in these institutions in 2021 and 2022. This provision has again been added to the eligibility rules issued for admission in the Information Bulletin of JEE Main.
This is going to be a direct loss to the students who did not clear Main and Advanced in 2022 and gave Main and Advanced in 2023. If the NTA had already told the eligibility, then the students of 2022 session would have had the opportunity to take the CBSE improvement exam.
CBSE 12th exam is to be held in February-March. In this, the race for admission to IIT begins with about nine lakh students from all over the country. Students who do not qualify for JEE Advanced get admission in NIT system on the basis of JEE Main score.
