Indian Premier League New Rules: The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) is going to implement a unique rule in the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The name of this rule is Impact Player. Apart from cricket, this rule is already applicable in sports like football, rugby, basketball and baseball, but will be used for the first time in IPL. In its endeavor to provide strategic flexibility to teams, the Impact Player is set to launch.
Under the Impact Player rule, the captain can include another player in the team in place of a player in the playing 11 during the match. The BCCI had tested this rule during the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament in October and the state teams welcomed the move. According to sources related to this development, the IPL Steering Committee (GC) discussed the matter on Thursday evening. The franchise has already been informed regarding the impact player.
