National Desk:
Justice Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud took oath as the 50th Chief Justice of India on Wednesday.  President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath to him at a brief ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.  Justice Chandrachud took over as the head of India's judiciary from Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, whose term ended on Tuesday.
This is the first time that a son has become the CJI after the father.  Justice Chandrachud's father Yashwant Vishnu Chandrachud was the 16th CJI of the country.  His tenure was from February 22, 1978 to July 11, 1985, which meant about 7 years.  Now after 37 years his son is sitting in the same position.  Justice Chandrachud has overturned two major decisions of his father in the SC.  Justice DY Chandrachud will have a tenure of 2 years from November 9, 2022 to November 10, 2024.
