Australia Government Big Decision: The new government of Australia surprised other countries of the world by taking a big decision on Tuesday. Indeed, Australia on Tuesday reversed the previous government's decision to recognize West Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The government says the issue should be viewed as part of peace talks between Israel and Palestine.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said during a media briefing, 'Australia is always committed to resolving any problem or dispute through two-party dialogue. This includes Israel and the future Palestinian state, where peace and security are essential. We will not support an approach that undermines the possibility of peace.
In 2018, the conservative coalition government led by Scott Morrison formally recognized West Jerusalem as Israel's capital, reversing decades of Middle East policy, but the new PM changed the previous government's decision.
