Sri Lanka's economic crisis: Government of India $55 million LOC to the country

Sri Lanka's economic crisis continues.  The country has been under a state of emergency for the past several months.  The people of the country have been rebelling for food.  People in Sri Lanka are already rebelling against the government for food, clothing and fuel.  The Sri Lankan government is seeking the help of various countries to overcome the situation.  India has also come forward to help the country.  In response to the request of the Government of Sri Lanka, India has decided to provide an LOC of US$ 55 million to Sri Lanka for the purchase of urea fertilizer.Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amarabira and Indian High Commissioner Gopal Bagle signed the agreement in Colombo on Friday.  An LOC Agreement was signed between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Export-Import Bank of India.  The signing ceremony was also attended by senior officials of both countries.
