David Beckham, the former England football captain and global icon, was formally knighted by King Charles III in a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. The 50-year-old was honoured for his services to football and British society.

The knighthood was initially announced earlier this year as part of King Charles’ Birthday Honours list. Beckham’s illustrious career on and off the pitch has made him one of the most recognisable figures in modern sport.
